Nami Walk May 11 2013

I am the captain of the Neil's Wheels Walk Team on May 11 at Eisenhower Park. The walk is to support the National Alliance on Mental Illness and Neil's Wheels will be collecting canned food from the walkers from every team for Long Island Food Pantries , and your donations will go to help both NAMI and Neil's Wheels.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. NAMI has over 1,100 affiliates in communities across the country who engage in advocacy, research, support and education. Members of NAMI are families, friends and people living with mental illnesses such as major depression,  schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and borderline personality disorder.  Many NAMI affiliates offer an array of support and education programs for families and consumers. NAMI's support and public education efforts are focused on educating America about mental illness, offering resources to those in need and insisting that mental illness become a high national priority.
